Kizzog - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is a Kizzog?

A Kizzog is a semi-custom blog (website) that's specifically about your child. Capture and share the memories of your child as they grow up and don't let those memories fade. We have eight different designs for you to choose from and you can upload pictures of your child into the design of the website.

What forms of payment do you take?

We accept Visa, Master Card, American Express (Amex), Discover Card and Paypal payments.

All this software is uploaded to your website and included in our low yearly price.

Most accounts are set up the same day the payment is made. However, please allow up to 48 hours for us to set up and install the files.

What size photos can I upload for the design?

For the best results please use photos that are squared. (example: 300 x 300, 750 x 750) Once a photo is squared our photo uploader will automatically re-size your photos to fit perfectly in the Kizzog design. The exact dimensions of the photo areas are:

larger photo = 230 x 230 (pixels)

smaller photos = 80 x 80 (pixels)

If you need a free photo editor we recommend downloading and installing GIMP.org.

What blogging software does the Kizzog use?

We use the popular Wordpress software and have made some programming additions to allow for easy uploads of photos into your blog design.

Do I have to upload the website or designs myself?

No, all the files and database for the software to run your Kizzog are uploaded by us. Once we set up your account you will be able to upload photos and share your blog with others.

How do I change my Design? (theme)

Each Kizzog comes with 12 pre-installed themes (designs) and switching them from one to another is easy. Just login to the "Admin" section of your website and select "Themes" which is located under the "Appearance" area on the left hand side. Once in the "Themes" page you will see all the "Available Themes" you may choose from. Click the specific theme you wish to change to and a screen will pop-up with the design. In order to confirm the design all you need to do is click the "Activate" in the upper right hand corner. Now your theme has been changed in only a few easy steps.

I already have a domain for my child can I use it?

Sure, you will be given the option to register a new domain name or use an existing domain name. You will need to update your nameservers from your current domain registrar to ours. An email will be sent from McKremie with the specific nameservers you will need to use.

Will this website show up in the search engines?

Yes and No, the Kizzog web hosting account comes with a special file that specially tells the search engines to not crawl your website. This is automatically installed on your web hosting account. When surveyed most parents did not want their Kizzog indexed and the content to show up in the search engines. It's important to note that not all search engines follow these files but the three main three search engines tend to.

If you would prefer to have the search engine crawl and index the content of your Kizzog, simply open a support ticket under the "Kizzog Department" and we will remove this file for you.

It's also important to note that even though your content may not be crawled the domain name itself may still show up in the search engines. A good example is when the domain name is the exact name being searched. A search for "Janet Suzanne Smith" may bring up the website for www.janetsuzannesmith.com even though the content itself was never crawled.

I want a custom Kizzog designed by McKremie is that possible?

Yes, most of the custom designs we do cost $199.95 per design but can go up depending on the design. In addition to the custom design itself you will need the Kizzog yearly fee ($49.95) for hosting.

My spouse is serving our country oversees will he or she be able to view my Kizzog?

Yes, as long as they have access to the Internet they should be able to view your website fine.
